Diversity promotes innovation and drives performance

About TRM

TRM Environmental (TRM) is a woman-owned firm led by Catherine Dare. She brings over 30 years of engineering experience to her vision of a consultancy that incorporates diversity for greater success, improved performance, and a means to fuel the economy. Catherine recognized that greater diversity brings an expanded outlook and broader range of perspectives to the table, and works to create partnerships that benefit all parties.

TRM is located in New York and has completed projects throughout the state.

We’re Here To

  • Implement infrastructure and documentation to facilitate the actions of the various stakeholders involved… So you can be confident communication throughout the project is seamless and efficient.

  • Keep a trained eye on the big picture, ensuring schedules are on track and costs are within budget… So you can focus on driving to solutions that meet your objectives.

  • Pay attention to details, assess and review data, cut through the clutter, and translate the complex issues into simple and concise language… So you can rest assured information has been consolidated to provide you with the essential details needed to make critical decisions.

As a driving force in today’s economy, women in engineering leadership bring unique skills and perspectives to business.

However, engineering is a demanding, complicated career in a predominantly male-driven environment, with a low tolerance for the demands on families with children. This dichotomy led to women stepping away from engineering, the profession losing talent overall, and a decrease in the potentially diverse contribution level.

TRM Environmental (TRM) originated as a sole proprietorship in 2012. With the LLC’s inception in early 2014, TRM became a woman-owned corporation certified as a New York State Women-Business Enterprise (WBE) in October 2016. As of June 2019, TRM is 100% woman-owned.

Founder Catherine Dare enjoyed engineering and the problem-solving process to find the best path forward in any situation, yet it was not a comfortable space for women. She resolved to create and nurture that space where women engineers could bring their skills to the table and further their technical careers without compromising on life demands outside of work.

When TRM was founded in 2012, there were 1.3 million women-owned businesses in the US. As of late 2020, about 12.2 million businesses (40%) in this country are led by women, generating $1.9 trillion a year.

TRM’s 30+ years of construction and environmental experience, coupled with flexible staffing solutions and a diversity of perspectives, allow us to propose options for environmental and construction challenges that proactively address issues at all levels.

Partnering with clients to gain their trust and successfully achieve their goals.

We are dedicated to creating a respectful and collaborative environment that enables us to meet and exceed client expectations, consistently providing clients with innovative and cost-effective solutions while maintaining the highest professional standards.

Our uniquely vibrant culture is driven by positive attitudes, quality of service, and financial viability in a transparent and collaborative environment.

Our team establishes strong partnerships with the design team, field staff, and affected community by consistently prioritizing:

  • Culture of collaboration – a team focused on delivering value while building lasting relationships of mutual understanding and trust.

  • Critical path scheduling – supporting decisions by planning to drive successful work coordination.

  • Lead by advantage – support for decision-making with multiple stakeholders by identifying collaborations.

  • Conditions of satisfaction – focus on puzzle-piece-sized project goals to support cost and schedule.

  • Target value design – focus on cost as a design parameter to reduce rework.

TRM maintains an independent perspective while being accountable to local building officials, the project engineer, and most importantly, our clients. This independence is key while witnessing, recording, and reporting construction activities performed by project contractors and subcontractors. Our engineers understand the critical nature of fieldwork and environmental conditions while working with each client to ensure a timely and cost-effective solution.
